  • Module 1: Introduction to agile project management – Includes Waterfall, Lean and Agile methods, project lifecycle and impact on project success and failure
  • Module 2: Waterfall overview and concept phase – Components of projects, stakeholders and the project manager’s role and project management phases
  • Module 3: Interactions and individuals – Collaboration and teamwork, including the Agile mindset, improving teamwork and building trust
  • Assignment 1: Research essay 1 & team reviews (10% weight of grade)
  • Module 4: Product ownership and customer collaboration – Focus on customer-centric projects, generating ideas and defining customer value
  • Module 5: Leadership, motivation and team in action – Leadership frameworks, situational leadership, motivation and teamwork. Agile planning and processes.
  • Module 6: Scrum – Scrum overview, processes, meetings and tools plus risk management
  • Assignment 2: Individual assignment (25% weight of grade)
  • Module 7: Scaling Agile – Scaling up, the Dynamic System Development Method (DSDM) and other scaled approaches
  • Module 8: Other Agile techniques – Extreme programming (XP), Lean software development, collaborative programming, value management and value analysis
  • Module 9: Working product – Simplicity. The importance of quality, people and problem solving. Risk management overview and processes.
  • Assignment 3: Team assignment (30% weight of grade)
  • Module 10: Responding to change – Waterfall vs agile change control, dealing with change and issues that may arise
  • Module 11: Agile in practice – Case studies and application
  • Module 12: Review – Why Agile and summary
  • Assignment 4: Summative journal (35% weight of grade)
