Am I an international student?
Auckland Online welcomes applications from international students wanting to study postgraduate or master’s programmes in NZ fully online from their country of residence. You will be considered an international student if you are not:
- a New Zealand citizen, or
- a New Zealand permanent resident, or
- a New Zealand resident visa holder.
You will be considered an international student if you are:
- an Australian permanent resident residing outside New Zealand, or
- an Australian citizen residing outside New Zealand.
Importantly, as an International student you will be subject to international student fees as well as meet the International entrance standard as listed below.
*studying online from your country of residence will not satisfy the requirements to obtain an New Zealand student visa*

You must fulfil our requirements to receive an offer of place, or you must be in a position to fulfill our requirements to be considered for a conditional offer of place. Entry requirements are based on your prior study and we provide specific requirements for qualifications our international students have most frequently achieved. There are additional entry requirements for some programmes and these vary depending on the programme you are applying for.

Please note that the programme fees are indicative and estimates only. Fees are set in advance of each calendar year and will be updated on this website. Fees are inclusive of 15% GST, but do not include the Student Services Fee course books, travel and health insurance, or living costs. Fees will be confirmed upon completion of enrolment into courses.
